1. Introduction: The Principle of Individual Conscience<\/h2>

In Yoruba cosmology, Or\u00ed is the most important deity in a person's life. More than the physical head (Or\u00ed Ode), he is the spiritual head (Or\u00ed Inu), the divine portion that each individual chooses before birth. Or\u00ed is our conscience, our personal guardian, and the bearer of our destiny (Ayanmo). No Orisha can bless a person without the permission of their Or\u00ed. Hence, the saying goes: "Or\u00ed is the first Orisha."<\/p>

2. Fundamental Myths (Itan)<\/h2>

A fundamental Itan tells that, before coming to Earth, each spirit kneels before Olodumare and chooses their destiny. Then, they go to the house of Ajala Mopin, the divine potter who shapes the heads (Or\u00ed). There are good, average, and bad heads. Choosing a good head will largely determine one's success in life. However, even those who choose a bad head can improve it through rituals, good character (Iwa Pele), and the appeasement of their Or\u00ed, demonstrating that destiny is not a final sentence, but a path that can be improved.<\/p>

3. Domains and Symbols<\/h2>

Or\u00ed's domain is the very individuality of each being. Its symbol is the physical head, which must be treated with the utmost respect, and the Ibor\u00ed, a sacred settlement representing a person's Or\u00ed deity, where offerings are made to strengthen and align destiny. The main offerings to Or\u00ed are the Obi (kola nut) and fresh water (omi tutu), which calm and clear the head.<\/p>

4. Archetype and Personality<\/h2>

Ori has no "children," as it is the very essence of the individual. A person's relationship with their Ori defines their personality. A well-aligned Ori results in a calm, focused, successful person with clarity of purpose. A misaligned Ori manifests in mental confusion, bad luck, constant failure, and lack of direction. Worshiping one's Ori is the first step to success in any area of life.<\/p>

5. Relationships and Dialogues<\/h2>

Or\u00ed is the foundation of everything. It communicates with all the Orishas, as it allows the blessings of the gods to reach a person. Its most intimate relationship is with Orunmila, the Orisha of destiny, who, through the oracle of If\u00e1, reveals what a person's Or\u00ed came to Earth to do and how to align it.
