Ògún is a deity from the times of the creation of the world.

Ògún is a deity from the times of the creation of the world.

Within the entire entourage of Orixás that came to earth, Ògún is the ásíwájú (the one who goes in front, the one who leads), he came to earth with the name of Alàákàyè (Lord of the Earth), Ọṣìn mọ́lẹ̀ (Leader of the imolês / irunmoles), clearing the forests and opening the way for all those who come after him.

Ogun dresses himself with new leaves from the Igí Ọ̀pẹ (the sacred oil palm tree), whose name is Màrìwò.

It is to Ogun that we must ask for good paths when we set foot in the door to leave our homes for any reason, just as it is to Him that we must ask for protection to return.

In fact, this is my prayer when I leave the house EVERY DAY, this is a tip for those who don't pray when they leave.

There is no need to recite it in Yorùbá, but whoever wants to... ọ̀nà fun mi àti kí Èṣù sì rìn pẹ̀lu mi o

If you fly, you travel along air routes. If you take a train, you travel along railroads. By car, you travel along streets and highways.

It doesn't matter. Ògún is the one who creates roads regardless of where they are. Keeping this in mind is important, for obvious reasons.

Ògún is a friend to all, but few are his friends. According to the ancients, and contrary to what has been disseminated in some religious practices in Brazil, Ògún is an Orisha who enjoys solitude and loves silence. He is very generous, yet serious.

He likes things simple, is respectful, and contrary to what many of us believe, he is a "calm" Orisha. However, when he loses his temper, his fury cannot be contained. In fact, there is only one way to contain Ogun: a woman.

Ogun respects the presence of a woman: Iyafero (The woman in charge of calming Ogun if he becomes frantic and violent). This is, in fact, one of Yemoja's hundreds of titles: Iyafero; The Mother Who Calms.

In cults of Ògún in African territory, such as in Sakété, Benin, it is common to hear this name spoken. Furthermore, here is the tip aiBí ọmọdé bá dalẹ̀Kí ó máa ṣe gives ÒgúnỌ̀rọ̀ Ògún l`ẹ̀wọ̀Ọ̀rọ̀ Ògún ṣòrò

If a young man breaks an oath Let him not break the oath made to Ògún the word of Ògún is taboo the word of Ògún is sacred Pátákòrí o, Ògún Ye.
