1. Main Features
Ose Meji, known as “The Lord of Abundance” or “The Prosperity Multiplier”, is the fifteenth Odu Méji in the Ifá system. Its graphic representation, with two central double lines surrounded by single lines, symbolizes abundance flowing from the center in all directions, multiplying and expanding infinitely. This Odu represents prosperity, fertility, material and spiritual abundance, and the ability to transform small resources into great riches. Ose governs commerce, business, productive agriculture, and all enterprises aimed at multiplying resources. It is the Odu of prosperous merchants, successful farmers, visionary entrepreneurs, and all those who have the gift of making everything they touch prosper.
2. Interpretation According to William Bascom
In "Ifa Divination," William Bascom documents Ose Meji as an Odu of great economic and material power, often associated with situations involving prosperity, abundance, and the ability to multiply resources through intelligent work and perseverance. Bascom notes that Ose's verses (ese) often tell stories of people who started with little but, through their dedication, business savvy, and generosity, managed to accumulate great wealth and share it with their community. This Odu promises material prosperity to those who work honestly and generously, but warns of the dangers of greed and selfishness. According to Bascom, Ose teaches that true wealth lies not only in accumulation, but in the ability to circulate abundance.
3. Myths and Associated Stories (Ese Ifá)
One of the most inspiring myths of Ose Meji, recorded by Bascom, tells the story of the “Generous Merchant”There was a poor man who had only a few corn seeds. Instead of eating them out of hunger, he decided to plant them. When the harvest came, instead of selling everything for personal profit, he gave half to the hungry in his village and planted the other half. With each harvest, he repeated the same process: sharing half and replanting half. Over time, his lands became the most fertile in the region, and he became the most prosperous man, but also the most beloved for his generosity. The Orishas, impressed by his wisdom and kindness, blessed him with eternal abundance. This story teaches that “Ose ni a fi n pọ̀” – “It is through Ose that we multiply”, that is, true prosperity comes from generosity and sharing.

Spiritual Reflection
Ose Meji teaches us that true abundance is not a finite resource to be jealously guarded, but an infinite energy that multiplies when shared. This Odu reminds us that we are all channels of universal abundance and that our individual prosperity is intimately linked to the well-being of our community. Ose Meji's energy invites us to see wealth not as an end in itself, but as a tool to create more beauty, more opportunities, and more happiness in the world.
"The wisdom of Ose Meji teaches us that abundance is like a spring: the more we draw from it to share, the more it renews and multiplies. Understanding this sign is understanding the secret to true and lasting prosperity."
